To simply administration in the steel industry, all materials are classified into standardised classes with unique designations. This means that every material must demonstrate certain chemical and physical properties. The material designation follows a laid-down nomenclature so that the type of material can be recognized at a glance. The first character of a material designation refers to a specific type of steel or application. For example, the "S" in S355 stands for construction steel, while the number following after the S - "355" - indicates the minimum yield strength in N/mm2, in this case 355 N/mm².

We only use pure quality steel from European producers in order to meet the exact chemical and mechanical values. The minimum yield strength, elongation and elongation at break of a material is determined using a tensile testing machine on either the raw material (strip) or the finished tube (Factory Certification 2.1 or 3.1).

In fact, the elasticity of the steel is a factor that is industrially relevant. The so-called 0.2% yield strength is an essential value here. This means the mechanical tension that when applied in one direction results in an elongation of the specimen of exactly 0.2%. This value can be calculated unambiguously from the nominal stress - total strain diagram.

In addition, the various products (hollow sections) are manufactured according to specific standards. For example, EN 10219 defines “cold formed welded structural hollow sections of non-alloy and dine grain steels”. Round, square, rectangular and oval tubes are used in the steel industry as hollow sections. S235 Structural steel with a minimum yield strength of 235 N/mm2

S275 Structural steel with a minimum yield strength of 275 N/mm2

S355 Structural steel with a minimum yield strength of 355 N/mm2

S420 High-strength steel for cold forming, thermo-mechanically rolled with a minimum yield strength of 420 N/mm2

S460 High-strength steel for cold forming, thermo-mechanically rolled with a minimum yield strength of 460 N/mm2
